Stop Motion Lip Sync

This is a stop motion animation that I created using puppets and  modelling clay. The brief was to create a lip sync where a face looked as though it was saying the recorded words. We also needed to make one puppet look as though it was saying the words and the other to show a reaction. My animation was fairly successful since I fit the brief; the quality of the images wasn't great however and my modelling skills are very limited.

Motion Studies - Walk

For our motion studies module, I created a 3/4 view, 2D animation of a walk based on a video of me walking. Although the proportions are a bit off, the character walking towards the screen works well in my opinion.

Painting

I thought that I should have a go at painting since I don't do enough of it and so I've attempted to copy a background from Winnie the Pooh. I'm really happy with this painting and really like the style of it - watercolours with some pencil outlines on top of it. There are however some issues with the perspective in my painting, especially in the fence and the pumpkin cart.

Portrait

Today, I tried to sketch a portrait of myself. This was challenging because I'm not used to looking at myself in that much detail. Although it looks vaguely like me, I think there are some issues with the facial features, particularly the nose. I am happy with the position of the features though as I used a grid to help me get them in the right place.

Using a Book to improve sketching

One of my animation lecturers lent me a sketching book that gave different steps on drawing animals, people and the countryside and so I did a few of these tasks. Here's what I came up with... :) The techniques used for these tasks will be useful to use in other sketches.

Sketching

I've come to the realisation that I'm not very skilled at sketching/drawing/painting and I would really like to develop these skills so I'm going to be posting my efforts on here occasionally to hopefully see some improvements. My challenge is to just keep practising, particularly at the stuff that I struggle with the most - so I've started with a couple of perspective sketches.

This is my 2D animation showreel. It includes: a ball bouncing, character jumping, hand turning over, weight and balance exercise, squirrel jumping, smoke cycle, juggling cycle, front walk cycle and splash animation.
