Animated Magic

Here are some tests of magic that I animated for the Merlin the Mallard project that I am working on. The second test doesn't really fit with the style of this project but the first and third tests are more like the desired style.

Walk Cycles

Here are some character walk cycles for various different projects that I'm working on.

Additional Character Designs

Here are two character designs that I created (on the left hand side) of additional characters in a project I'm working on called Merlin the Mallard alongside the existing two main characters on the right.

Layouts

Here are some concept layouts that I created for another upcoming project called Over the Road and some props that I designed for one of the bedrooms in the house.

Character Designs

Here are some character concepts that I designed for a new upcoming project called Deflated. They include designs of children, the main character's mother, and a pet shop worker:

More Recent Animations

Here are some simple characters that I recently animated based on some live action reference videos.

Bird Animation

Although this would look better with the background moving, here is a quick loop that I recently animated.

Elements

So I thought I would have a look at animating some fire and water, and followed a tutorial online. Here is what I came up with:

Ambedo

Another third year project that I was working on in my second year was called Ambedo which I animated one shot of animation for. These characters were quite complicated to replicate but I was happy with the outcome.

I also did some colouring and line colouring for them.

I am Dyslexic

I am Dyslexic is a short film, directed and produced by third year students, that I was helping out with in the last term of my second year. For this film I coloured a few shots, using TV Paint, which are now all in the final completed animation. The final animation looks really good and I am very glad to have been part of this project. The shots I worked on will follow this post! Although they aren't the final rendered versions with the finished backgrounds in place, they still display the finished coloured characters.

Joey Chou Artwork

I really like the artwork of Joey Chou who I discovered on Pinterest. I particularly love his Disney art however these examples below inspired the style in my pre-production. I really like this style, especially as it isn't over-complicated but still has a lot going on to make it look visually interesting.

Alice X Zhang

I have been looking at some more of Alice X Zhang's artwork which I think is incredible. The colours and detail in these specific ones are beautiful:

Listening Project Animation Showreel

Here is a showreel of animation that I have been working on for our live brief for the BBC Listening Project. This includes key-framing, inbetween animation, clean-up and colouring. Most of these scenes consisted of animating the character Vision that I earlier uploaded character designs of. In these scenes, he was interacting with a pick axe because the child speaking in the voice over was talking about Vision scratching away Lego with a pick axe. The other scenes are a dinosaur and rocket which were put together into a scene combined with 3D animation that other people in my group were creating.

Setting Designs

These are my final setting designs, one being in the aquarium with a rock-pool and the other set under the sea.

Final Listening Project Animation

Here is the finished animation for our Listening Project that 7 of us were working together on for the past few months. We're pretty happy with how this has turned out and being a combined effort, it was great experience working on a group project with a live brief. Although the style of the animation is slightly different throughout, I think the mix of animation still works well and looks great with both the 2D and 3D combined together.

Character Turnarounds

Here are some character turnarounds which I designed for my animation pre-production idea. These characters are the main character of the story Emily, her mum, and the Whale who is another key character.

Title Page

This is my title page from a 'Pitch Bible' that I made for our pre-production module for my aquarium animation idea

Storyboard Concepts

Here are some final storyboard designs in the intended style of my animation idea. This is only taken from a very brief part of the idea which should end up being around 3 minutes long. In this section of the animation, the girl is sucked into a rock-pool which leads into the ocean where she is in awe and wonder and swims with the whale.
